Anti Christ superstar VS. Jackass Blowhard

I don’t think it would shock too many to know that I am not  a fan of Bill O’reilly. It’s not even the political ideology that I find so bothersome (although I do detest his whole  ”Im an independent” when it’s documented that he’s a registered republican, be up front!. I could actually respect his whole “conservative” desire to turn the clock back to 1950’s “leave it to Beaver” times if he was at least up front about his agenda). No what I think bothers me most about the guy is that if you ever actually watch the Oreilly factor  ( or most of the better known shows on Fox news) all it is is a bully fest. You dont agree with O’reilly? you’re going to get cut off, shouted down, or dismissed as some “liberal” etc blah blah blah. maybe it’s because I work in the rock music world that I get so insane when people like O’Reilly attempt to blame the evils of the world on god for bid rock music. Whether it be Insane clown posse dressed up as “serial killer clowns who rap, or a guy wearing a $30 contact lens and his sister’s eye make up, the fact that someone could with a straight face blame the current state of the angry suburban youth on these idiots is laughable to me!.  Imagine my fascination when Marilyn Manson went on the “Oreilly factor”e . How would O’reilly handle it?. I think he was expecting some brainless dope who would try to be shocking by jumping up on his desk and defecating on it, but Manson is actually smarter than a lot of the “legitimate”  guests that you’ll see wearing suits on that show. I found it so entertaining to see O’reilly’s constant attempts to rattle him with  questions like “why do you swear in your music? and what about the children who listen?”…….. There’s really not a lot of new ground broken here but it’s pretty interesting to watch

from the nerd floyd dept.

At their Portland show the other night, Weezer did a sweet cover of Pink Floyd’s “Time!”

Gotta say, Pat Wilson! Very nice performance my man. Looks like someone is trying to make a future for themselves as the new front-man of Weezer…

Picking up where the Darkness left off?…….

Nah, THESE guys are really good!. People are always asking me what I am listening to, like my being on the radio somehow makes me an expert on what is good!. No, knowing what is GOOD makes anyone an expert on knowing what is good, the job has little to do with it!. These guys are from Australia, they’re called the Galvatrons, I dont know if Im sold on the guy’s voice, but I really like the flow of the song, I find myself unable to stop from smiling or bobbing my head when I hear it.

 YAAAAY MELODY!. Check it out!

Life On Mars. New show on ABC that I’m very interested to watch. Not because I care about a cop that travelled back in time (because I haven’t seen a DeLorean anywhere in the previews so I know it’s impossible anyway!). My interest has peaked because of Michael Imperioli’s mustache with his character Ray Carling. This mustache:

Hot damn that thing is SWEET! One day I will be able to afford testosterone injections and be able to grow a lipperpillar that glorious!

I live for the fail blog

I could spend hours and on many occasions HAVE obsessing on failblog. You probably have a LIFE and do not have such time to channel into mocking the misery of others. So for you they condense some of it into a neat and effective package. Enjoy

Dorks for Obama

I know the idea of the electoral college has made it about more than just who gets the most actual votes, to become president one has to reach out to different factions of society to acquire the necessary 270 electoral votes to become our commander and chief. That said, the latest special interest group to exercise it’s political might: sci fi dorks for Obama. Behold! Eh, you can’t always choose the guest list, sometimes you have to put up with those who show up at your party. I guess Ill still vote for him anyway despite this guy’s support!

AC/DC – A History Lesson

The website I found this on said it was sad someone would spend anytime putting together such an in depth history of AC/DC albums.  I have been having conversations in bars about the stuff this bloke mentions for years.  Does that make me an AC/DC geek?  Fine!  I’m proud!

And for the record, the song Crabsody In Blue that is mentioned is really good and I’m annoyed it’s only been available of the Australian version of Let There Be Rock.  See, I’m getting geeky again………….

Kurt’s ashes: Up in smoke?

Just when I think people cannot be any more morbid, disrespectful, or just plain stupid, I see this. This picture is allegedly of the last remains of Kurt Donald Cobain. Check out the link to find out what is to become of them.

“Tap Into America……”

Check this out.  We need to start a campaign to get this to occur on the East Coast.  Who doesn’t want to pay to see exploding drummers and a Stonehenge monument on stage to raise money for kids?!!!!…………

Celebrate the spirit of rock ‘n’ roll and the musicians of its future with a benefit event that “goes to 11.” On October 16, the movie that does for rock what “The Sound Of Music” did for hills will thrill fans and first-timers alike as “This Is Spinal Tap” hits the big screen at The Majestic Crest Theater in Westwood, California. This special event is a fundraiser for the Hollywood Rock Academy Foundation which provides “rock school” classes and musical instruments to underprivileged kids in the Los Angeles area.

A true celebration of all things rock, the event will also feature a live performance by TAPPED OUT, a SPINAL TAP tribute band made up of Hollywood Rock Academy students (ages 13-15 ) that will include exploding drummers and a Stonehenge monument (…not to scale), as well as special guests still to be announced.

All proceeds benefit the Hollywood Rock Academy Foundation and go directly to scholarships in the Hollywood Rock Academy’s mobile program, which brings music instruction — and instruments — free of charge to Los Angeles-area kids in need.
